We love E&A University! We upgrade TakeStock every two years and it’s an absolutely seamless experience because we can learn what’s new through E&A University. We’ll use the projector in our classroom to setup a lunch-and-learn session whenever a live class that we want to take is scheduled. It’s the perfect training tool for our inside sales people. And when a new hire needs to get up to speed quickly, we can use the recorded sessions: the employee can watch the video, go through the basic steps and get the mechanics down; then we’ll progress to a live setting.


I think that E&A’s support is more than 150 percent better than the competition!

Ajax Rolled Ring & Machine

We use the VISUAL Scheduler to create our schedule. We then use a custom program we developed to group like tooling jobs together. We can run these jobs back-to-back-to-back. This saves us the expense and downtime that comes with frequently changing out dies for different jobs. That’s one of the great things about VISUAL. It is very simple to customize as the need arises.


E&A's Gary Ussery is great to work with. Gary has a comprehensive knowledge of VISUAL. All you need to do is tell Gary what you want the end result to be and he can handle the rest. Gary is there whenever we need him.

We’ve gotten better, quicker and faster doing the same jobs as before.  Our FACTS system is key.  We feel that it’s important to stay up to date, so we budget for technology upgrades to occur every single year. We feel that strong about it!

 

We use FACTS to track of what our customers have purchased in the past and to better predict what we need to keep in stock to satisfy future demand. The beautiful part about our system is that we can service our customers from whichever warehouse makes the most business sense.  For example, if a customer calls from Indiana, we don’t have to choose between Chicago or Cincinnati.  We can process the order from any site because we can view the available stock quantities at all four of our warehouses.  We can take the order and send a pick ticket to print out at the warehouse that is located closest to the customer and/or has the items they need.  Our customers really love that flexibility!

 

Pro Decisions makes information readily available to us, even for our ‘non-computer’ people. Computer consultants call it ‘data mining’ but we prefer to think of it as ‘hunting for cash’.  That’s because we want to find the inventory that is not working for us and replace it with inventory that turns faster and produces greater profit. With Pro Decisions, we did in fact succeed in finding the cash sitting in our inventory.  We converted the inventory to cash and opened up another branch location.

 

That’s why I’m putting as much as we can that makes sense into FACTS and E&A. Information technology allows our company to grow because we can grow our cash.  Growth gives us more profit; and on we go.


Empire Marketing Group

Our database server crashed early on Friday afternoon. We had a new server installed at our location because we were having sporadic problems with the one that had crashed.


E&A's Terry Dixon and Adam Team worked with me until 9:30 PM Friday to get Thursday's backup installed on the new server.  After I was able to massage the old server back to life long enough to retrieve the after image backup from it and transfer it to a removable hard drive, Terry and Adam spent hours on Saturday and Sunday rolling the database forward, testing and completing the server renaming process despite other personal obligations. In the end, we did not lose a thing and it was business as usual on Monday.


I have not witnessed such a skilled, dedicated and professional team since my days in the U.S. Army’s Strategic Communications Command.

Infor Distribution FACTS has proven to be a nice fit. FACTS handles everything for us from sales orders to purchasing, inventory and accounting. Our salespeople have the pricing information available to them at the time they take the order.  We have the convenience of seeing what’s on hand, what’s available, if items are on backorder or if there is more material on the way.


Suggested Purchase Orders has been a nice feature. We can view reordering reports that show us precisely when the time is right to place an order; for example, when we have reached a buying target with a specific supplier. Infor Distribution FACTS recalculates turns on a monthly basis.  We use the information to break our inventory out into different classes with one being the most turns, thirteen the fewest turns or dead stock, and everything else in between. We analyze the data to make decisions about what we want to stock going forward.


We have over 500 suppliers but a core group of 80 to 100 suppliers comprise 80% of our business volume. Using historical data from Infor Distribution FACTS, we can talk to our vendors from a position of strength.  We can say, ‘We’re moving a lot of your inventory.  Let’s talk about how you can support us through a new incentive program or by offering us additional rebates’.  With Infor Distribution FACTS, we have a tool we can use to gain leverage with our suppliers.

The amount of work that we have been able to do with Infor ERP TakeStock has translated into a tremendous increase in our efficiency. There's no question about that.


Jennifer and Carl created a custom-written quote system for us based on TakeStock's Internet InterLink module. It was unbelievable how fast they put it together and how well it works! We'd have to employ at least two full time data entry people to enter all that stuff into TakeStock. Meanwhile, our sales force benefits from gaining access to self-service tools, enabling them to get all the current pricing and product information they need without phoning in for assistance.


We love the security of having snapshots of our system taken throughout the day and sending these backups offsite for retrieval whenever we might need them. And if anything unusual occurs, E&A's managed services group is immediately calling on the phone or sending an email to alert us about any potential ramifications and how we might deal with them.


The answer when I call E&A about an issue or to discuss a possible upgrade is always 'Yes, that can be done'. E&A is the most responsive business partner we have.

The people behind the system are very important. We were confident that E&A would be there for us after the sale was made. 


We like that E&A values our business and provides us with individualized attention. The combination of local support services and a nationally-recognized, premium software product has proven to be ideal for us.

We worked with E&A to make decisions about how Infor Distribution SX.enterprise would be adapted to our unique business needs. Fortunately, E&A had developed a road map that detailed everything we needed to do to get setup properly. We simply followed along the check list!

Our sales associates can use Infor Distribution SX.e to link to the account's past purchase history and use that information to help the customer make an intelligent buying decision; whereas before we would have to physically step away from the phone to retrieve that information from a file cabinet. The hours we have saved are significant.

We used to shut down the plant and spend up to three days every year doing a complete inventory. Today, we use bar code scanners to cycle count which we do religiously. As a consequence of the robust inventory management processes we have in place, our accounting firm has agreed that we can simply eliminate the task of counting the finished products and keep the plant open for production year round.

Sometimes change is difficult for people but we made the transition to Infor Distribution FACTS very smoothly. We went to E&A's office in Greensboro for classroom training and it went exceptionally well. We learned how to use Infor Distribution FACTS to get far more useful information to effectively manage our business than we had ever been able to before. 


E&A University has been a great tool and will definitely be something we continue to use. When we have brought new people on, we have sent them through the classes so they can gain in-depth experience with the system. 


All of our upgrades went very smoothly. We had quite a few modifications over the years - some with sales orders, pick tickets, booking commissions reports, and so on - but I don't ever remember a time when we upgraded and had a problem with our modifications or any other significant issue.


Before, we had a 24 to 48 hours shipping turnaround time. Now, we're down to less than 24 hours with most orders going out the same day. When you're pushing 100 to 150 orders every day, that's a lot of paperwork and UPS packages - and we're talking from 2 to 100 line item orders! It's been a major accomplishment for us to successfully streamline our processes. I believe the changes are putting us above the competition.

Although we've had a 40% increase in users, today I spend only about 20% of my time on IT issues which is considerably less than before.


E&A is a single site response center. Our end users don't have to be technical experts. If we experience a problem, E&A is able to remotely connect and resolve issues quickly and with much less cost than having a local technician travel onsite. We've got access to a secure, offsite backup that can be restored within hours to the exact point in time we want to return. E&A can login and perform diagnostic work, setup new users, or do most anything else we need to do without being onsite.
