Howard ColemanE&A is pleased to present the renowned distribution industry consultant, Howard Coleman on April 17, 2012 at Turf Valley Resort & Conference Center in Ellicott City, Maryland.

Howard proposes that radical changes for wholesale distributors and their supply partners are pushing them towards adopting a different approach to managing their product inventory and supply chain costs. Howard’s presentation discusses and challenges the ingrained perceptions in our DNA about supply chain management. The main premise debates the merits of “Push vs. Pull Replenishment” and unlocks the ideal of “sell-one, buy one” inventory/supply chain management.

Howard will bring into focus a strategy for supply-side inventory/supply chain management that is driven by “actual demand” versus forecasts; while providing the opportunity for truly collaborative relationships with suppliers to emerge.

Topics to be covered:

  • A brief history of “Lean” and its transition to distribution
  • A “basic lean thinking tenet”
  • Push vs. Pull – What’s the difference?
  • Challenging old assumptions – the change in thinking
  • Some new answers to some pretty basic questions
  • The impact on inventory and supply chain management
  • The effect on suppliers – the “win-win” and alignment of interests
  • What should you be doing now?

Infor10 Distribution Express (FACTS): Job Stream

Job Stream is available on every Infor10 Distribution Express (FACTS) system. Job Stream enables you to pre-define reports with their appropriate settings, and then run these reports as needed on a repetitive basis.

Good candidates for Job Streams include reports that are run weekly for the sales force and reports that are run at every month end prior to closing. Follow the easy steps below to implement Job Stream.

  1. The first step is to go into each report and set up a Report Template (covered in last issue of FACTS Tips & Slices). Include the email addresses in the template if you intend to email the reports with the Email module.

Infor ERP TakeStock Tips & Slices: Sales Analysis Exports to Excel

E&A frequently fields requests from Infor ERP TakeStock customers concerning how to export their Sales Analysis data to Excel in a way that takes advantage of the many analysis tools offered by Excel; including colorful charts and graphs, pivot tables, data sorts, etc.

The Export to MS Excel feature found on the SA Reports menu allows you to quickly and easily export sales analysis data to Excel. This feature is very similar to using a TakeStock report template. Simply choose the filters, sorts, and fields you want to see in your Excel worksheet and click RUN. All of the data matching your criteria is sent directly to Excel! As with report templates, you can save your selections by name and re-run the export as needed without having to make the selections each time you need to export the data.

“Tim Earnest and I have often collaborated on executive councils within the industry over the past 20 years,” commented John Genter, who will become a business consultant at E&A. “I am certain that JGA’s customers will enjoy gaining access to E&A’s technical resources and value-added services.  I am excited about the possibilities for growth – both for our clients and ourselves – that are made possible by this combination,” he said.
